Sacrificial Animals Coming to Karachi Cow Mandi from 7th August


Good news for all the crazy fans of Eid ul Azha and Qurbani lovers as sacrificial animals at Karachi Cow Mandi (Cattle Market) from all over Pakistan will start coming from 7th August.

Jahangir Allah Rakha, who has been given the contract for the administration of the Asia’s biggest cattle market for the year 2016 confirmed the date during interview with Karachifunclub.net.

He also acknowledged the fact that under his supervision the sweeping and cleaning vast area has started where the cow mandi will set up. The total time of cow mandi will roughly be around 40 days and the administrator said that he will make sure all the facilities are available to both buyers and sellers throughout that time.

Moreover, Jahangir also confirmed that booking of VIP block in cow mandi will start soon. He said that he would be happy to be the first man to show out his collection in these VIP Blocks. According to the administrator, all the plots on the VIP Block as well as other blocks will be given on first come first serve basis.

The mandi administrator promised the people of Karachi that just like previous year, no parking fees will be taken from visitors if they park their car on visitors parking. Moreover, security staff will be there for vigilance. However, vehicle entry inside the mandi will only be allowed to those having passes (Stickers) provided by the administration.

The administrator emphasized on the fact that safety and security is the single most detrimental factor for buyers, sellers and even just plain visitors who come to mandi for enjoyment with family and watching the biggest, heaviest and most beautiful of sacrificial animals.

Sellers will required to give a certain fee before entering the Mandi. Moreover, they are also given fitness certificate for their animals. In case some sacrificial animal gets ill, vet nary doctors are available on the spot for healthcare.

Karachi Cow Mandi is locally called Sohrab Goth Cow Mandi due to its close proximity to the area of Sohrab Goth in the outskirts of Karachi. It is setup every year usually 30-40 days before Eid-ul-Azha. This year Eid-ul-Azha is expected to be held on 12th or 13th of September in Pakistan.

It is expected that as many as 200,000 animals will arrive in mandi that includes Cows, Goats, Sheeps, buffalo and Camels. Animals come up till the day of Eid. Animals of every known breed are sold including Desi, Sahiwal, Sibbi (Bhagnari), Brahman, Australian, Belgian Blue among others. For more updates log on to www.karachifunclub.net
